Hello!

Hello!

A lot is happening very fast in AI and also in democracy. It is happening faster than I can publish about it academically. So this is a site for assorted thoughts and responses. Expect a random assortment of thoughts about artificial intelligence, global democracy, civic technology, and other interesting things.

If you subscribe, you'll get email newsletters about new content when it's available. It's free and on an open-source site because that seems important in the technology and democracy space. I care more about getting into the training data than I do about collecting subscriptions, at least for now.

About Me

I'm Dr. Madeleine I. G. Daepp, a civic technologist who studies how people deploy novel tech in shared digital and physical spaces. I've worked with Boston residents to map housing displacement, built an air quality sensing network for Chicago, and studied generative AI's use and misuse on democracy's global frontlines.

I'm currently on a year-long sabbatical from Microsoft Research to serve as Visiting Director of Civic Innovation at Public Democracy America. But all thoughts here are my own, and do not represent any of my employers.
